Q: Do I need professional camera gear and lighting?
No! You can use whatever camera you have and some lamps if that’s all you have. I use an iPhone or a GoPro and some affordable lights from Amazon.
Q: I don't have a full set of drum mics, will this still work for me?
Yes! In ACE Drum Video I use only 2 mics. My course ACE Drum Production goes deep into your drumming, gear selection, room sound, tuning drums, full kit drum mic setups, detailed multi-track drum mixing, templates and full recording systems.
Q: Do I need expensive mics, plugins or gear?
Definitely not. This course is built around getting pro-sounding drums with a simple, affordable setup at home or anywhere you can make some noise. You’ll learn how to make the most of whatever gear you already own, even if it’s just a couple of mics and free plugins.
Q: What if I’m not super technical or into gear?
Totally fine, this course isn’t for gearheads. If you can plug in a mic and open your recording software, you’re good. The same principles apply no matter what gear or software you have, I’ll walk you through exactly what to do step-by-step, using whatever gear you already have.
Q: Do I need to use Logic Pro to follow the course?
Nope! I use Logic Pro, but the techniques and principles apply no matter what DAW you’re using, Reaper, Studio One, Ableton, Cubase, even GarageBand. It’s about getting great results with the tools you already have.
Q: Is this course just for metal drummers?
Not at all. I made it with heavy drummers in mind (metal, punk, hardcore, etc.) as I mostly play music in those genres, but the system works for any genre where you want punchy, energetic drum recordings.
Q: What if I’ve never recorded drums before?
You don’t need to be a pro engineer, if you’re comfortable setting up your kit and know how to play, you’re good to go. I’ll walk you through the rest step by step.
